Who do you see when you look into the mirror?
We often define ourselves by our physical appearance, our career and designation, the roles that we play within our family etc. We see ourselves are deficient in certain qualities, good at certain things, we may hear other’s voices when we define ourselves.
We think of ourselves as parts of who we may be. We fragment our identity as a good/bad something and an average/outstanding something else! It is as if a whole is broken in pieces of acceptable and the not-so-
acceptable.
What if we view ourselves as a whole?!
The picture becomes more realistic as it becomes a unique combination of qualities that we actually are. No two people are alike and that’s our strength. Each of us has a part to play, for ourselves and for the general society as a whole.
Recognising that this combination that we are as individuals, acknowledging our unique combination of talents and going on in life in the best possible way, where this combination is best utilised, is what life is all about.
People feel lost when they fail to understand this. We generally compare ourselves to others and set higher or lower benchmarks for ourselves depending on the comparison. This results in a person feeling dissatisfied and unfulfilled.
It is usually a mentor or a well-wisher who could help lift those blinkers from our eyes and make us realise our true potential. It makes all the difference from being lost to finding yourself again.
Invest in yourself! Find yourself!
